Sacred Art and Moral Renewal by Ken Schilling

The intention behind my sacred art is to reach a universal audience, inviting all viewers to reconnect with enduring spiritual truths deeply embedded in the Christian faith. In a world increasingly characterized by cultural confusion and fragmentation, my work seeks to serve as a beacon that guides humanity back toward a moral and spiritual order rooted in divine wisdom. I believe that sacred art has the power to transcend divisions and inspire a renewed commitment to values that reflect the natural righteous law.

At the heart of my artistic vision is the representation of Christian themes, primarily centered on the image of Jesus Christ. Throughout history, Christian sacred art has used the figure of Christ as the primary symbol of divine love, redemption, and truth. By drawing from this rich tradition, I aim to create works that resonate authentically within the Christian cultural and religious context, while also speaking to the broader human experience.

The concept of "inversion" and "moral decline" is understood as the modern world's embrace of ideologies and values that contradict the natural order established by divine law. This inversion obscures spiritual truths and disrupts cultural cohesion, leading to a diminished influence of sacred art and a drifting away from foundational ethical principles. My art intends to counteract these trends by reaffirming spiritual realities and providing a visual testimony to the enduring presence of sacred truths in contemporary society.

In crafting my work, I employ vivid color, deliberate form, and thoughtful composition to create a fusion of the tangible and the abstract, capturing both the physical presence and the spiritual essence of Jesus Christ. This approach not only conveys a sense of sacredness but also inspires reverence and contemplation. The choice of oil on canvas as a medium allows for richness and depth that supports this vision, enabling texture, vibrancy, and luminosity that elevate the sacred narrative.

To ensure accessibility while maintaining spiritual depth, I incorporate a modern interpretation of an iconic style. This balance invites viewers from diverse backgrounds to engage meaningfully with the work while preserving the profound symbolic and theological layers embedded within the imagery.

Though challenges persist in creating and presenting sacred art in today’s cultural environment—where secularism and relativism often dominate—I approach these obstacles by reaffirming the universal relevance of spiritual truths and by fostering an inclusive dialogue through the visual language of Christianity’s foundational stories and teachings.
